The Bloodlust

Writer/Director: Marc Meyers

Stars: Ross Lynch, Alex Wolff, Anne Heche & Dallas Roberts

Rated: R

Based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same nameby Derf Backderf, the movie depicts Jeffrey Dahmer’s junior & senior years at Revere high school in Ohio from the perspective of his nerdy classmate. Derf & his friends took Dahmer into their circle junior year, after they were impressed by his bizarre outbursts at school, & Dahmer became the subject of a lot of his cartoons. After graduation, Derf & his friends lost touch with Dahmer. Derf was busy working for various publications back in the Akron, Ohio area after college, & we all know what Dahmer was up to. In 1991, after learning of Dahmer’s arrest & confession, Derf & his friends got together to reflect on their memories of Dahmer, & struggled to understand how the guy they knew had become one of the most heinous serial killers of all time. This led Derf to publish a number of Dahmer-related strips in his comic, The City, which eventually became My Friend Dahmer the comic book, then My Friend Dahmer the movie.
